- Boeing JSF Builds on F/A-18E/F Super Hornet Schedule and Affordability Achievements Boeing 26 Jul 2000 -- In the 1990s, the Boeing F/A-18E/F Super Hornet program redefined how weapon systems are developed and evaluated. By integrating U.S. Navy operational test and evaluation (OT&E) pilots early in the aircraft development effort, Boeing and the Navy were able to identify and resolve issues long before those may have affected cost and schedule.
- Engine Value of Turkey's GE-Powered Kingcobra Attack Helicopter May Exceed $300 million GE Aviation 26 Jul 2000 -- On July 21, the Turkish Government announced its selection of the Bell Helicopter Textron KingCobra, each powered by two T700-GE-701 turboshaft engines, as the winner of its attack helicopter competition.
- USAF Expands KC-135R and RC-135 Fleets with New CFM56-2 Engine Orders GE Aviation 26 Jul 2000 -- The U.S. Air Force (USAF) has released funding to purchase 36 additional CFM56-2 engines to re-engine four KC-135 tanker and five RC-135 recognizance aircraft for delivery in the 2001/2002 time frame.

- Special Representative For Children And Armed Conflict Urges Security Council To Implement Specific Measures To Protect War-Affected Children, UN Press Release, 26 July 2000 -- The Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict, Olara Otunnu, has urged the international community to implement a series of specific measures to put pressure on warring parties who abuse children. The measures included a legal ban on exports of natural resources by warring parties, the exclusion of crimes against children from amnesty agreements and greater support for the world's internally displaced.
