Industrialization and production of NH90 - 400 million euros of potential orders for Thomson-CSF
08 June 2000
As part of the expected contract for the first industrialization and production phase of 243 helicopters, according to the governmental agreement signed June 8th 2000 between France, Italy, Germany, and the Netherlands, Thomson-CSF, a key partner in the NH90 program, will be awarded orders worth around 400 million euros (2,5 bn francs).
According to the specifications of the NH-90 TTH (Tactical Transport Helicopter) and NH-90 NFH (NATO Frigate Helicopter), Thomson-CSF will supply in cooperation with its European partners:
* Avionics systems: mission calculator, flight control instruments, cockpit visualization, helmet mounted sight-display …
* Radar,
* Electronic warfare and self-protection systems,
* Communication, navigation, and identification systems,
* Electronic generation equipment,
* And for the helicopters ordered by the French Navy, the Flash sonar system produced by Thomson Marconi Sonar.
This success illustrates the increasingly important role that electronic systems from Thomson-CSF play as a central element in platform mission systems.
Thomson-CSF is currently involved in a significant number of European helicopter projects such as the Tiger (France and Germany), EH 101 (United Kingdom and Italy), and is taking part in the American ALFS program.
