Office of the Government SpokespersonValiant Ethiopian Air Force Bombed Strategic Military Positions
May 28, 2000 (9:25 pm local time) The heroic Ethiopian air force today bombed strategic military positions at Hirgigo, which is in the vicinity of Massawa. Although the Eritrean military used its best anit-aircraft capacity, they were unable to stop the Ethiopian air force from successfully fulfilling their mission. The valiant air force also bombed strategic positions around Adi-Keieh, causing the Eritrean army heavy losses. After completing their sorties, all aircraft returned safely to base. The Eritrean army also continued to shell Ethiopian positions at the Bure front with heavy artillery while deceiving the international community into thinking it had withdrawn from all Ethiopian territories. As has been its pattern for the past two years, the rogue regime in Asmara is once again professing a commitment to the peace process in a cheap attempt to confuse the international community while continuing to prosecute its war of aggression. Fighting at the other fronts subsided today.
