Lockheed Martin Awarded U.S. Navy Training Contract Worth Up To $375 Million
ORLANDO, FL, April 20th, 2000 -- Lockheed Martin Information Systems (NYSE: LMT) has been awarded a U.S. Navy contract, potentially worth up to $375 million, to provide training equipment, analysis and support for all naval aircraft. The FY2000 Training Systems Contract Lots I and III indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity award by the Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division (NAWCTSD) calls for Lockheed Martin to perform the work in Orlando, through March 2008. The program will support training for all naval aircraft, with anticipated initial efforts focused on the F-18, KC-130, EA-6B and F-14 platforms.
"New technologies developed in our comprehensive training and simulation portfolio have yielded lower costs for the U.S. Navy," said Lockheed Martin Information Systems President John Hallal. "Such savings include the use of Lockheed Martin's core software architecture, a long-term investment by our corporation into the customer partnership."
Lockheed Martin is engaged across the simulation continuum providing virtual, live and constructive training systems to military and commercial customers. Within the previous year, the Orlando-based Information Systems unit has received major U.S. Defense Department training contracts covering all aviation platforms for the U.S. Marine Corps, the U.S. Air Force's C-130 program, and a wide variety of training simulation systems for armored vehicles.
Lockheed Martin employs approximately 6,500 employees at facilities in Central Florida.
