Sanders Completes Delivery of Countermeasures Sets to Turkey
NASHUA, NH, April 11th, 2000 -- Sanders, a Lockheed Martin Company, has completed delivery of a large quantity of AN/ALQ-144A(V) infrared countermeasures systems to the Turkish government. Sanders received a $13.8 million U.S. Foreign Military Sales contract in March 1998 to produce the AN/ALQ-144A(V)1 and a smaller number of AN/ALQ-144A(V)5 systems with deliveries scheduled to be completed by December 2000. A contract modification in September 1998 accelerated the schedule for final deliveries by February 2000. Additionally, $3 million in spares were accelerated and delivered in parallel with the prime mission hardware.
Bob Krivicich, Sanders' ALQ-144A program manager, said Sanders met the accelerated time schedule challenge to complete delivery contract three months ahead of schedule. "This was another significant milestone for this very successful program which will significantly add to infrared protection capabilities for a key NATO ally."
The combat-proven ALQ-144A(V) Countermeasures Set provides comprehensive protection against a wide spectrum of infrared missile threats against helicopters. The systems are on both helicopters and fixed wing aircraft for Department of Defense (DoD) components and many foreign countries. The (V)1 and (V)5 variants are upgrades of the ALQ-144A system and can be mounted on either the top or bottom of the airframe. More than 5,000 systems are deployed worldwide.
Sanders, with headquarters in Nashua, N.H., is an operating company of the Lockheed Martin Corporation. Sanders is a major producer of aircraft self-protection systems and tactical surveillance and intelligence systems for all branches of the armed forces. Other major business areas include microwave, mission and space electronics; infrared imaging; and automated mission planning systems.
