Lockheed Martin Awarded Simulator Training Contract Worth Up To $300 Million
ORLANDO, FL, March 24th, 2000 -- Lockheed Martin Information Systems (NYSE: LMT) has been awarded a Marine Corps Simulator Master Plan contract worth up to $300 million to provide aircrew training, including simulator operations and maintenance, for all U. S. Marine Corps aircraft. Under this indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity award by the Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division (NAWCTSD), Lockheed Martin will perform work in Orlando on an estimated 17 training simulators scheduled for completion by March 2007. Training simulators for EA-6B, AH-1W, UH-1N, CH-46E, CH-53E, F/A-18C/D, AV-8B and KC-130 aircraft are included in the procurement.
"Training for the full spectrum of U.S. Marine Corps aircraft, including helicopters, fighters and tankers, is addressed in this contract award," said Lockheed Martin Information Systems President John Hallal. "We are leveraging new technologies developed in our extensive training and simulation portfolio to lower costs for this new customer. This win significantly expands the breadth and depth of our training business."
Lockheed Martin is engaged across the simulation continuum providing virtual, live and constructive training systems to military and commercial customers. Lockheed Martin's Special Operations flight training program, the Mission Training Support System, located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, is the foundation for other aircrew training and simulation systems, such as the C-130 Aircrew Training System in Little Rock, Arkansas, awarded in 1999.
Lockheed Martin employs approximately 6,500 employees at facilities in Central Florida.
