Israel Aircraft Industries ELTA EL/L-8222 ECM Jamming Pods for Australian F-111 Aircraft
Feb 21, 2000
The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) has selected Elta, and its main Australian subcontractor Vision Abell as preferred tenderer to provide the EL/L-8222 electronic warfare (EW) jamming pod for its F-111 aircraft. The Elta EW pod is a modern advanced power-managed system ECM jamming pod including an internal integral receiver. Its main task is to increase survivability of the aircraft during operations in a hostile electromagnetic weapon systems environment.
The RAAF looked for a non-development item (NDI) ECM jamming pod as part of interim EW fit for its F-111 aircraft which can readily be fitted to the aircraft, and can be supplied by the end of the year 2000. They also looked for an advanced ECM jamming system, which includes a digital RF memory (DRFM) and is software reprogrammable.
The ECM jamming pods will be supplied with comprehensive ground support equipment including automatic test equipment, software support facility and operational support equipment.
ELTA's EW self-protection systems are installed and in active service with the Israeli Air Force and additional foreign Air Forces, and were operationally proven to deliver highly efficient protection against lethal surface and airborne threats. ELTA's EW self-protection systems are operationally flown on the F-15, F-16, A-4, MiG-21, F-5, Tornado and Jaguar.
Elta is a subsidiary of Israel Aircraft Industries, Ltd.
