MOORESTOWN, NJ, January 31st, 2000 -- A team led by Lockheed Martin Naval Electronics & Surveillance Systems (NE&SS) was selected today by Newport News Shipbuilding as the CVN 77 warfare systems integrator. Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) of Newport News, Virginia is providing the transitional aircraft carrier under a contract to the U.S. Navy. "CVN 77 is an exciting program for the Navy and the Lockheed Martin NE&SS team. It is the first major program to benefit from the impressive synergies and outstanding value the NE&SS organization provides to our customers," said NE&SS President Joseph D. Antinucci. "We are collectively thrilled by this opportunity and our team is committed to providing Newport News Shipbuilding with a cost-effective, innovative, and modular IWS design. Together, we will leverage the proven engineering and integration heritage of NE&SS and its companies and the strength and experience of our teammates Northrop Grumman, Solipsys and SPAWAR."
