2000 - Year of the Defence of the Angolan Nation

Communique of the Armed Forces for the liberation of Angola "FALA" No. 01/2000

 

In the pursuance of their patriotic duty, the FALA was engaged in the following military actions:-

Province of BIE

On 6th January 2000, the 1st and 2nd battalions of the 20th Brigade of Eduardo dos Santos forces was dispersed 5kms west of the city of Andulo. The enemy left behind 17 dead bodies of their men.

On 7th January 2000, a military truck was destroyed 3kms north of the city of Andulo, which resulted in the death of 21 men of the 1st Brigade of "FAPLA" - Eduardo dos Santos' armed forces.

On the same date a BMP-2 assault vehicle was destroyed 2km north of the city of Andulo when it tried to help a military truck. 10 men occupants of the assault vehicle lost their lives.

On 8th January 2000, the village of Muinha, 19kms north of Kamacupa was taken by storm. 13 enemy troops "FAPLA" of the 42nd Brigade died.

Province of Huambo

On 7th January 2000, 2 military trucks of the 17th Regiment were attacked and destroyed 4kms southeast of the city of Bailundo. This has resulted in the death of 29 enemy troops "FAPLA". Amongst the dead were 13 officers who were on their way to a course in Luanda, including Colonel Mateus Chitay.

On the same date an enemy military truck was attacked 1km southeast of Chiumbo. this resulted in the death of 8 Eduardo dos Santos' "FAPLA" men.

On 8th January 2000, the first company of the 2nd Battalion of the 17th Regiment was dispersed 8km northeast of Bailundo. The enemy abandoned 6 of their dead colleagues.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Province of Kwanza Sul

On 7th January, the army barracks of Eduardo dos Santos' armed forces "FAA" in Waco Kungu were attacked. 9 enemy soldiers were killed.

On the same date the village of Cabuta, garrisoned by a tactical group was taken by storm. 18 enemy soldiers "FAPLA" were killed and 3 military trucks destroyed.

On 8th January 2000, an enemy military truck was destroyed 19 kms southeast of Gabela. 22 "FAPLA" troops of the 12th Regiment were killed.

On 10th January 2000, the city of Amboiva was taken by storm. 26 "FAPLA" troops were killed, large quantities of lethal war materials captured, including weapons, munitions and grenades of diverse calibers.

Province of Malange

On 5th January 2000, the 36th company of special commandos was dispersed 12kms east of Kambundi Katembo. 16 "FAPLA" troops were killed.

On 6th January 2000, the 4th battalion of the 3rd Regiment was attacked 15kms southeast of Kambundi Katembo. 11 "FAPLA" soldiers were killed.

On 7th January 2000, 7 "FAPLA" soldiers of the 48th Regiment were killed 8kms northeast of Kambundi Katembo.

On the same date an AN-12 military aircraft was shot down in the northeast of Malange, when it was flying from Luanda to Nzagi. The crew and the passengers all died.

On 8th January 2000, a military truck of the 3rd Battalion was attacked and totally destroyed 22kms northeast of Malange on route to Kalandula. 15 "FAPLA" soldiers died.

On the same date, the village of Ndumba Kambango was taken by storm. The enemy left behind 17 dead.

Province of Uige

On 4th January 2000, a military truck travelling between Alfandega and Sanza Pombo was destroyed. All the lethal war material which was destined for the 5th group was captured.

On the same date a T-55 AM war tank of the 54th group was destroyed between Nsosso and Cambolo.

On 6th January 2000, the 1st tactical group of the 54th Regiment was attacked 8kms from Damba. 14 "FAPLA" soldiers died.

 

 

On 7th January 2000, a tactical group of the 5th Regiment was dispersed when it was in the process of destroying the populations of a district southeast of Sanza Pombo. The enemy left behind 7 dead soldiers.

On 9th January 2000, a "FAPLA" battalion which intended to occupy the village of Lukunga was dispersed. The enemy left behind 16 dead soldiers and quantities of lethal materials were captured.

Province of Bengo

On 8th January 2000, a "FAPLA" Battalion of the 49th Regiment was attacked on the route between Quibaxe and Pango Aluquem. 9 "FAPLA" soldiers were killed.

Province of Lunda North

On 5th January 2000, a military vehicle of "FAPLA" travelling between Lucapa and Luarica was attacked. 23 enemy soldiers were killed.

Province of Moxico

On 7th January 2000, the city of Kangamba was taken by storm. The enemy retreated and left behind 38 of their dead soldiers and large quantities of war materials.
