V-O-A Correspondent Breck Ardery reports from the United Nations. TEXT: After a closed-door meeting on Afghanistan, Security Council President Danilo Turk of Slovenia read a statement from the Council that strongly condemns the recent attacks on U-N offices in Afghanistan. The attacks were triggered by U-N ordered sanctions against Afghanistan's Taleban rulers because they refuse turn over terrorism suspect Osama bin Laden. Mr. Turk said the attacks on U-N offices could jeopardize humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people. /// TURK ACT /// The members of the Security Council emphasize the importance of the humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people and commend the courage shown by the U-N and other international personnel as well as their will to continue, to the extent possible, to provide humanitarian assistance. /// END ACT /// The U-N Security Council also repeated its demand that the Taleban turn over Osama bin Laden to appropriate authorities in a country where he will be effectively brought to justice.
