CACI Awarded Strategic Contract to Support Air Force Distributed Mission Training
Company Is One of Four Contractors to Compete in Phase One
Arlington, Va., August 19, 1999 -- CACI International Inc (NASDAQ: CACI) announced today that it has been awarded a $1.1 million contract by the Aeronautical Systems Center’s Training Systems Product Group, at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, to support the Distributed Mission Training Operations and Integration (DMT O&I) program. The phase one award was given to four contractors who will compete to determine which single contractor will be awarded phase two and the remainder of the indefinite delivery/indefinite-quantity contract. If CACI is selected for the potential 15-year phase two effort, the award value for the company over the next five years is expected to be approximately $342 million. Computer Sciences Corp. (CSC), Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC), and TRW Inc. are the other winning contractors.
The DMT O&I program is a key component of future Air Force readiness, allowing aircrews to train "as they would fight" in simulation from geographically separate locations around the globe. The program provides the master architect, systems integration, and network services for this vital program. The benefits of the program include improved warfighter readiness by enabling aircrews members to practice combat operations, some of which cannot be done live, at reduced costs, from home stations, in a robust synthetic environment.
For the phase one contract, each contractor has received an initial task order that requires refinement of their proposed solution, technical analysis, and a system performance document to establish performance parameters. In approximately eight months, a single contractor will be selected to perform phase two of the effort, which involves fielding and implementing the integrated training system.
CACI offers the Air Force a substantial background in simulation and simulation training, demonstrated network services and systems integration expertise, and a unique approach to satisfying the DMT O&I requirements. The company will carry out phase one activities from its Rosslyn, Virginia; Orlando, Florida; and Dayton, Ohio facilities.
"CACI’s selection to participate in phase one of the Distributed Mission Training Operations and Integration program demonstrates that our simulation and training solutions offer great potential for the Air Force’s aircrews, honing their skills and enhancing their readiness," said Dr. J.P. London, CACI Chairman and CEO. "CACI’s extensive experience on Joint Services and other Defense Department simulation programs gives us significant understanding of Air Force training needs and enables us to offer a technical approach to simulation that has already proven successful in delivering realistic and effective mission training."
