Tori Shima Range

Located approximately 28 km north of Kume Island, the entire island is used as a range for training. It was discovered that during training exercises running from Dec. 1995 to Jan. 1996, U.S. Marine Corps Harriers accidentally fired approximately 1,520 depleted uranium bullets, which are armor piercing incendiary bullets.
