Ike Skelton Training Area

The Ike Skelton Training Site/Center/Area/Facility is the Missouri National Guard Headquarters, is located approximately 6 miles East of Jefferson City. Public access is limited to normal daily hours of 8:OO a.m. to 5:OO p.m. Monday through Friday and drill weekends. Public hunting, fishing and river access is prohibited at all times.
After the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001, the National Guard elevated their security clearance for all facilities, activated a platoon of Military Police to secure the State Emergency Operations Center at the Ike Skelton Training Site, and tested their alert notification system and emergency communications system. The State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) headquarters is located at 2302 Militia Drive, the Missouri National Guard's Ike Skelton Training Site -- the large brick building at the top of the hill.
The Missouri National Guard (MONG)-University of Missouri-Lincoln University Telecommunication Community Resource Center [TCRC] is being established to deliver credit and non-credit educational courses and programs; short-term professional development and training; other video conferencing and media support; and assistance with multimedia design and production of educational materials to citizens in Cole and surrounding counties and to members of the Guard and citizens state and nationwide. The TCRC located at the Ike Skelton Training Site. Facilities include interactive video, networked computers and computer lab, satellite technology and a learning center. The TCRC seeks to establish a shared use plan with federal, state and local government; educational institutions; non-profit organizations; and businesses on a cost-reimbursable basis. The new site at the Ike Skelton Training Center was remodeled from space that formerly housed a military academy.
US Representative Ike Skelton (D-MO) has represented Missouri's Fourth Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives since 1977. Skelton is a graduate of Wentworth Military Academy. A leader in the House on defense issues, Skelton is the Ranking Democrat on the House Armed Services Committee. He is also a member of the Subcommittee on Military Procurement. Skelton's district is home to two military installations -- Fort Leonard Wood and Whiteman Air Force Base. Skelton was instrumental in bringing the Army Engineer School to Fort Leonard Wood and the B-2 Stealth bomber to Whiteman.
