Bender Shipbuilding and Repair Company is a leading ship repair facility on the central Gulf of Mexico. Along a 7,000 feet of deep water frontage, Bender has built new yards and wet docks, improved equipment, and expanded dry docks to raise lifting capacities to more than 24,000 tons. A Panamax dry dock and an around-the-clock workforce are focused on fast, reliable ship repair. Bender also builds all types of vessels, crabbers, offshore supply vessels, push boats, shrimp boats, factory trawlers, riverboats, passenger vessels, tuna seiners, tug boats. More than 800 Bender-built ships are currently operating worldwide.
In January 2000 Bender was awarded an $8,980,325 firm-fixed-price contract for the Docking Selected Restricted Availability of USS Thomas S. Gates (CG 51). This contract contains options, which if exercised, would bring the total cumulative contract value to $10,984,665. Work was performed in Mobile, Ala., and was expected to be completed by June 2001.
