Camp Falcon / Camp Falcon West
Falcon Brigade -- the 10th Aviation Brigade of the 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry) Fort Drum, played an important role in Operation Uphold Democracy. In September 1994, Haiti's General Raoul Cedras narrowly avoided a an 82nd Airborne combat jump. Instead, the 10th Mountain Division launched a helicopter insertion from the deck of the USS Eisenhower. When a few US troops were among the first to surreptitiously venture out of the US compound at the airport into the streets of Port-au-Prince in a Humvee, where they were greeting by cheering throngs.
