882nd Training Group [882nd TRG]
The 882nd Training Group annually trains over 13,000 tri-service, mission-ready, healthcare staff for its worldwide customers.
As of March 2001, the group had 83 resident courses conducted at Sheppard AFB, as well as 77 mobile, supplemental and Phase II clinical training courses at medical locations around the United States. In addition to developing new courses, the 882nd is responsible for ongoing training in aeromedical education, biomedical sciences, clinical services, dentistry, health service administration and medical readiness.
In fiscal year 2000, the group graduated 13,960 students from its 160 resident and nonresident courses. There were 8,743 graduated from the resident courses; 5,217 graduates from the nonresident courses.
The group's medical readiness training is the leader in preparing medical personnel to perform their wartime missions. All medical personnel complete the expeditionary medical readiness course and then receive continuing medical readiness training at their duty station.
The field training site provides medical personnel the experience of practicing combat medicine techniques in a combat environment.
