737th Training Group [737th TRG]
The 737th Training Group provides basic military training for all enlisted people entering the Air Force, the Air Force Reserve and the Air National Guard, earning Lackland the nickname, "Gateway to the Air Force".
About 34,000 recruits annually undergo the six weeks of intense military and academic training. The United States Air Force Basic Military Training Program (often called BMT for short), consists of 6 weeks of intense training intended to release the potential within an individual and produce the best Airman possible.
Following graduation, airmen go on to technical training at Lackland or elsewhere before their first Air Force assignment.
More than four million airmen have completed basic training since 1946.
