66th Training Squadron [66th TRS]
The 66th Training Squadron is part of the United States Air Force Survival School, under the 336th Training Group. The 66 TRS is responsible for all Survival Evasion Resistance and Escape(SERE) training related to the SERE Career field, Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC) 1T0X0. This squadron trains the SERE experts that train the rest of the Air Force in SERE principles and techniques.
The 66th TRS conducts training in SERE skills and knowledge for the 3-, 5-, and 7-skill levels for the SERE Training Instructor AFSC. The 66th TRS also conducts course S-V90-A, Water Training Survival, Non-Ejection Course.

The 66th Training Squadron conducts the survival, evasion, resistance, and escape (SERE) training instructor course in select areas of Washington and Oregon. The course is a physically demanding six-month program designed to teach future SERE instructors how to teach aircrew members to survive in any environment. The course includes instruction in basic survival, medical, land navigation, evasion, arctic survival, teaching techniques, rough-land evacuation, coastal survival, tropics/river survival, and desert survival.
The 66th Training Squadron conducts water survival training for aircrew members of non-ejection seat aircraft in the Fairchild Air Force Base, Washington, swimming pool. The course lasts two days and includes instruction in signaling rescue aircraft, hazardous marine life, food and water procurement, medical aspects of water survival, personal protection, and life raft immediate-action procedures.
The 66th Training Squadron conducts the five day resistance training orientation course for US Air Force survival, evasion, resistance, and escape (SERE) training instructors and designated Department of Defense personnel. The course covers the theories and principles needed to conduct Level C Code of Conduct resistance training laboratory instruction. Established by 1993 Year of Training initiatives and the new career field education and training plan for SERE training instructors, course graduation is mandatory for upgrade to the 5 skill level.
This 19 day course is conducted for mid-career SERE Training Instructor NCOs, for the award of the seven-skill level. Training takes place in the four extreme biomes of Barren Arctic, Barren Desert, Open Ocean, and Jungle. This course of training provides hands-on operational training in SERE techniques for SERE Training Instructor NCOs.
The 66th Training Squadron conducts the 7-level upgrade course at Fairchild Air Force Base, Washington, for US Air Force survival, evasion, resistance, and escape (SERE) training instructors. Established by 1993 Year of Training initiatives and the new career field education and training plan for SERE training instructors, the course provides 5-level instructors with advanced survival training in barren arctic, barren desert, jungle, and open-ocean environments.
