4th Training Squadron [4th TRS]
(Base Code: SJ)
The 4th Training Squadron traces it's history back to the year 1942, when on 27 June it was constituted as the 4th Army Air Forces Flying Training Detachment. It was later activated on 10 July 1942 at Ranking Aeronautical Academy, Tulare, California. The Unit was disbanded on 30 April 1944.
On 19 October 1995 the unit was reconstituted and redesignated the 4th Training Squadron. The 4th Training Squadron was activated on 1 November 1995 at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina.
The 4th Training Squadron is unique in that it is the single source of academic and device training for all USAF aircrew upgrading in the F-15E Strike Eagle.
The mission of the 4th Training Squadron is to provide academic training and support to produce the world's best-trained and most capable F-15E fighter aircrews. The 4th TS is the only F-15E academic squadron in the world, instructing in the classroom, simulator, and the airplane. Other responsibilities include all academic lessons, student workbooks and publications, and managing other academic agencies and assets (Contract Instructors, Simulator, etc.). All non-flying issues affecting student aircrews, such as medical, finance, billeting, discipline or legal actions fall under the 4th TS.
