338th Training Squadron [338th TRS]
The Dark Knights of the 338th Training Squadron are responsible for teaching the largest number of ground electronic technicians in the Air Force. The 338th conducts training in all facets of ground based communications and electronic systems.
As the Air Force's communications-electronics schoolhouse, the squadron provides initial skills and advanced resident and nonresident maintenance training to include: satellite and wide-band, ground radio, meteorological-navigation, visual imagery and intrusion detection, space, instrumentation and telemetry systems, ground radar, and communications-computer systems to all four branches of the Armed Forces, DOD civilians, Air Force Reserve, Air National Guard and International personnel.
The primary focus remains on producing highly trained graduates who consistently exceed customer expectations, employing 21st Century technology bringing real world focus to academic training, enhancing the students' environment to provide the best possible quality of life. Additionally, the squadron continues the "blueing" military training processes to graduate trained technician to meet the requirements to support Expiditionary Air Force.
Detachment 1, 338th TRS at Ft Gordon, GA, provides apprentice training for all active-duty Air Force, Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve personnel entering the Satellite and Wideband Communications Systems career field. Det. 1 also provides military training for students with non-prior service and advanced training on 14 different communication systems to Air Force, Army, Navy and Marine personnel.
