316th Training Squadron [316th TRS]

The mission of the 316th Training Squadron is to produce the best trained Cryptologic Intelligence and Electronic Maintenance Specialists in the Department of Defense.

The 316th TRS plans and implements Air Force and DoD-directed intelligence-related cryptologic training and cryptologic maintenance training. The squadron is composed of over 500 multiservice staff and instructor personnel and manages an average daily student load of over 700 airmen, sailors, soldiers, and marines.

The 316th Training Squadron traces its origins to the 3495th Technical Training Group which was activated on 1 October 1987 and assigned to the 3480th Technical Training Wing at Stationed at Goodfellow AFB, TX.

Redesignated as the 3495th Technical Training Squadron, on 1 February 1992, it was reassigned to the 3480th Technical Training Group (redesignated from 3480th Technical Training Wing).

The unit was redesignated as the 316th Technical Training Squadron, on 15 September 1992 and assigned to the 391st Technical Training Group (redesignated from 3480th Technical Training Group). It was reassigned to the 17th Technical Training Group (redesignated from 391st Technical Training Group), on 1 July 1993.

The 316th was redesignated as the 316th Training Squadron, on 1 April 1994 and reasssigned to the 17th Training Group (redesignated from 17th Technical Training Group).

316th TRS, Operating Location A, was activated at Offutt AFB, NE, on 1 May 1996.
