313th Training Squadron [313th TRS]

The mission of the 313th Training Suqadron is to provide DoD with Mission Ready Cryptology, Information Warfare, Electronic Intelligence, and Communication Systems Professionals.

The 313th TRS is responsible for the technical training, professional development, and care for over 350 USAF trainees annually in eight different courses within the fields of cryptology, cryptologic systems maintenance, electronic signals intelligence, and information warfare.

In mid-1961, Detachment One, 6940th Technical Training Group was established with three instructors. During the next 15 years there was little growth in the unit - it never had more than 10 instructors and 20 students. A major step in the unit's development came on 29 July 1975 when the Air Force Security Service (now the Air Intelligence Agency), established the 6945th School Squadron. Growth came almost immediately as the unit quickly attained a permanent staff of 46 and a student load of 150 annually.

The squadron remained attached to the Air Force Security Service until 1 July 1978, when Security Service turned over control of the unit to Air Training Command (now Air Education and Training Command) and it became the 3482nd School Squadron. Since that time the squadron's parent unit has been the 17th Training Wing, located at Goodfellow AFB, San Angelo, Texas. In 1983, the 3482nd School Squadron was redesignated as the 3482nd Technical Training Squadron, and in 1986 again designated the 3482nd School Squadron. In 1992, it again became the 3482nd Technical Training Squadron. The squadron was designated the 313th Training Squadron in April 1994.
