21st Air Support Operations Squadron [21st ASOS]

The mission of the 21st Air Support Operations Squadron is to advise the 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment on all aspects of air operations and weather effects on the battlefield, that is on the capabilities, limitations, and employment of Air Force Assets.

The unit integrates air power into the Army scheme of maneuver. The squadron controls employment of allocated air assets on the battlefield. It provides weather observation and forecasting support to Army garrison and battlefield commanders. It coordinates and manages joint air operations with other service components and allied air forces.

The squadron provides weather staff, forecasting, observing, weather warning, and resource protection support for Fort Polk and the Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC).
