18th Weather Squadron OL-A [18th WS OL-A]
The 18th Weather Squadron provides resource protection, trains and maintains readiness to deploy worldwide as a force multiplier in support of US Army aviation and ground combat operations.
OL-A, 18th Weather Squadron, Ft Belvoir, Virginia, provides weather support to the Military District of Washington (MDW), Operational Support Airlift Command (OSACOM), 12th Aviation Battalion, DC Army National Guard, over 80 Fort Belvoir organizations, and three remote airfields in the tri-state area.
Primary responsibilities include weather warning resource protection for the Pentagon, Fort Belvoir, and Davison AAF, weather observations, forecasts, and briefings to aircrews transporting members of Congress and high-level DoD dignitaries, and contingency and wartime operations as directed by MDW and USAF authorities.
