18th Air Refueling Squadron [18th ARS]
The 18th Air Refueling Squadron is comprised of pilots, navigators, refueling boom operators, and various support specialists that provide worldwide in-flight refueling for strategic bombers, reconnaissance aircraft, AWACS, airlift and fighter aircraft for the United States and its allies as directed by the Department of Defense. They maintain a constant state of readiness for cargo, mobility, and special operations involving Joint Chiefs of Staff taskings. The 18th contributes force enhancement and deployment capability to support Global Reach / Global Power for America.
As an associate unit the 931st Air Refueling Group does not have operational control of the KC-135R aircraft. Instead, the host unit at McConnell AFB, the 22nd Air Refueling Wing, provides a designated number of aircraft for missions tasking assigned to the 931st. Upon mobilization, the 22nd ARW and the Air Mobility Command would gain the 931st. Currently the 931st has just one operational flying squadron assigned to it - the 18th Air Refueling Squadron. Aircrew members assigned to the 18th Air Refueling Squadron complete mission taskings directed by higher headquarters.
