178th Fighter Squadron [178th FS]
The 178th Fighter Squadron, North Dakota Air National Guard (NDANG), is headquartered at Fargo, ND. It is a unit of the 119th Wing.
The squadron flies the F-16 Fighting Falcon. The 119th Wing includes an alert detachment at Langley Air Force Base, Virginia. The 178th Fighter Squadron provides air defense for a large portion of the eastern United States from its alert detachment at Langley Air Force Base, VA.
The 178th FS is transitioning to become a multi-role fighter aircraft wing with both air-to-air and air-to-ground combat strike missions.
