Yaroslav Mudry's National Legal Academy
The Faculty for Training of SBU Preliminary Investigators at Yaroslav Mudry's National Legal Academy was established in July 1994 under the decision made by SBU's senior officials and with approval of the Ukrainian Ministry of Education. At first, it was a separate faculty of both the Institute for Training of SBU Personnel (now - the National Academy of the SBU) and the Ukrainian Legal Academy. On January 1, 1997, the Faculty was given the status of an independent educational establishment of the SBU within the National Ukrainian Legal Academy.
Enrollment to the full-time five-year training of SBU's preliminary investigators majoring in law and operative and investigative skills requires a general secondary education. Applicants that successfully passed entrance exams are enrolled on a competitive basis for simultaneous study at Yaroslav Mudry's National Legal Academy and for military service in the SBU.
Subject to their grades and pursuant to the Law of Ukraine "On Education," graduates are given a diploma of an established type with the academic degree of "specialist" and also commissioned with a first military officer's rank, that of lieutenant, following an order from the chief of the SBU. At the same, time they are assigned to corresponding elements and divisions of the SBU.
