Marine Police Division

Marine Police Division is responsible for the prevention and suppression of offenders relating to customs, fisheries, immigration, maritime operations Including the preservation of natural resources and interests by the sea.

At present, the situations both in provincial part and worldwide has been changed increasingly. The threats occurring in provincial parts consist of the ones in the same ways, and the new types of threats which are not only on ground, but also in the seas such as terrorism, pirates, drug trafficking, arms trafficking, human trafficking, and other wrongdoing. To maintain the security and the nation’s interests are still the main objectives; therefore, maritime intelligence is required to be focused on to support the operations of maritime security units.

Nonetheless, the organizations concerned with the maritime intelligence such as Royal Thai Navy, Customs Department, Fisheries Department, and Marine Police have limited performances to operate. Intelligences received mostly were already happened, or some of them were not in enough details to be practical, and not able to be linked and estimate the situations with the domestic and international organizations. Moreover, there is no a unit which is directly responsible for maritime intelligence at large for the country. This can affect the operations of security and sovereignty protection.
