2nd Brigade - Special Republican Guard (SRG)
As of June 1998, the Second Brigade consisted of 102 Officers and 2798 ranks. It headquarters were located at the Rasheed military base; a short distance after the inspection point on the left-hand side; near the Rasheed military Hospital.
The unit was tasked with being on standby for immediate combat.
Fourth Battalion (Security)
The Fourth Battalion's headquarters were located near the former building of the Military Police Headquarters at Al-Nisoor Square adjacent to the highway between the palace and the airport; in front of Hayy Al-Yarmook and beside Hayy Al-Qadisiyeh.
The unit was tasked with protecting Saddam's residence at Mak-hool which lay in the Beiji locale on the Mosul road leading to the village of Mis-hik whose name had been changed to Saddam's Village. The unit was a fighting brigade that participated in the Fao offensive and endured heavy casualties but was later rebuilt.
The Fourth Battalion comprised five platoons.
Sixth Battalion (Combat Infantry)
The Six Battalion's headquarters was at one point located at Hayy Al-Qadisiyeh towards the end of the minister's residences on the highway connecting the palace to the airport.
The unit was tasked with protecting presidential residences in Mosul in front of Hayy Al-'Arabi facing Ninevah Operoi Hotel in the forests. Consisted of five platoons.
Eleventh Battalion (Combat Infantry)
As of June 1998, the Eleventh Battalion had newly been established. Its headquarters were located at the Taji military base near the Ba'ath Square intersection inside the camp.
The unit was tasked with protecting Baghdad from the Taji direction and was equipped with RPG7s, Howitzers, BKCs and anti-aircraft guns attached to vehicles. Each soldier carried a Kalashnikov with 120 bullets. Most of the officers were from Tikrit and Beiji, and most of the rank and file are from the Anbar, Mosul and Salahul-Din provinces.
Fourteenth Battalion (Combat)
The Fourteenth Battalion's headquarters were located at end of Al-Rasheed military base just before the Training Academy.
The unit was tasked with protecting Baghdad from the direction of Kut and Salman Pak.
Fifteenth Battalion (Special Forces Combat)
The Fifteenth Battalion's headquarters were located at Abu-Ghraib on the road leading to the Air Force School and the airport from the Abu-Ghraib's direction.
