The activities of these ships was illustrated on 09 January 2009, when a South Korean nationality container ship "PANCON EXPRESS" (Universe Express) experienced a cabin explosion and loss of power, with 11 people on board in distress. North Sea rescue 131 received rescue mission from more than 220 nautical miles, and went to the accident site with the fastest speed. The captain carefully developed a towing plan, and carefully examine the various available towing attachments and equipment to understand the basic situation of "PANCON EXPRESS". The Korean nationality ship from Jeju Port was 137 meters long, 20 meters wide, 7 meters draft, the voyage loaded 426 containers. In the ensuing three days, the "North Sea rescue 131" braved high winds and 5-6 meter waves hit like an avalanche, with many of the crew seasick. At 9:00 on the 14th, the storm gradually weakened, and finally North Sea rescue 131 successfully towed "PANCON EXPRESS" to the sheltered waters of the port of Qingdao before the arrival of strong cold air.
