The Government unanimously approved the appointment of Maj.-Gen. David Zini as Director of the ISA for a five-year term. Maj.-Gen. Zini will assume office on 5 October 2025. Maj.-Gen. Zini has served in many operational positions and commands in the IDF, including: A fighter in the General Staff Reconnaissance Unit, a battalion commander the Golani Brigade, commander of the Egoz Unit, commander of the Alexandroni Brigade, Central Command Operations Officer, the establishment of the Commando Brigade, commander of the national land training center, head of the General Staff training command and the establishment of the Hasmonean Brigade. Prime Minister Netanyahu congratulated Maj.-Gen. Zini on his appointment as ISA Director and said that the post-October 7 reality requires a new ISA Director who comes from outside the ranks of the agency. The critical thinking that has characterized Maj.-Gen.
Zini in his various positions, the ability to think outside the box, to adapt the system to a changing reality, alongside his considerable and operational experience in force building and in its operation, have led to the conclusion that he is the most suitable person to lead the ISA at this time. The Government wishes Maj.-Gen. Zini much success in his position, and inscription in the Book of Life for the entire people of Israel.
