Downing Street is continuing to refuse to release a sensitive report into alleged Russian covert actions in Britain, despite coming under considerable pressure to do so.

In the latest development, The Sunday Times has claimed that nine Russian business people who have donated money to the Tory party appear in the document.

The report has been compiled by Parliament's cross-party Intelligence and Security Committee (ISC), which relies on the UK's three core intelligence agencies, MI5, MI6 and GCHQ, for its information and assessments.

The ISC's report has been cleared for open publication and The Sunday Times is reporting today that the intelligence agencies are "furious" over No. 10's decision to block publication.

The report allegedly looks at a full spectrum of covert Russian activities in the UK, ranging from traditional intelligence collection to attempts at manipulating Britain's electoral system.

In an attempt to contain growing pressure on the government, the Chancellor, Sajid Javid, has claimed that the delay is "perfectly normal".

The latest revelation by The Sunday Times is bound to increase speculation that the government is blocking the publication of the ISC report in order to protect the financial sources of the Tory party.
