
Japan Delays Charges Over Alleged Leak of Military Data to Russia

Tokyo prosecutor's office postponed filing charges against seven Japanese officials who was accused in transfer of Japanese military data to Russia, according to local media.
TOKYO (Sputnik) – Tokyo prosecution ruled to postpone filing charges against seven suspects allegedly involved in transfer of Japanese military data to Russia, local media reported on Friday.
According to the Kyodo news agency, prosecutor's office considered the case referred by the police on December 4 and described leaked material's degree of confidentiality as 'too low.'
Among those suspected by the prosecution there are former Japan Ground Self-Defense Force Lt. Gen. Kazushige Izumi, who allegedly procured internal military manuals and passed them to a Russian diplomat in May 2013, who later left the country.
According to media reports, the materials describe operation of divisions and brigades of the Japanese military.
