Iran begins CIA spy trial session

TEHRAN (ISNA)-Iran started trial session of Amir Mirza Hekmati Tuesday, a CIA spy arrested inside the country on espionage allegations.

The 28-year-old suspect had lived in Michigan State, U.S, and was captured by Iranian Intelligence following allegations on working with CIA.

Hekmati presented his defence during the hearing session and claimed that he was deceived and had not sought harming Iran's security.

The court's final verdict would be announced after presentation of the defense by his attorney.

Hekmati was born in Arizona and began serving in the U.S. military in 2001. He received language training and became an intelligence analyst.

The spy is a CIA analyst who has served in American military bases in Iraq and Afghanistan.
