TEHRAN (ISNA)-Iranian Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi called Iran pioneer in technology of manufacturing unmanned crafts.
Vahidi in a ceremony held to run an aviation center in the Iranian northeastern city of Mashhad, said Iran is the pioneer of manufacturing unmanned surveillance and srike crafts.
He noted the necessity of improving the country’s air fleet and making the best use of the aerial industry in various fields.
“Designing, manufacturing, assembling and keeping light and super light gliders, paragliders, remote control helicopters and entertainment flights are some of the fields to be run in the aviation center,” Iran minister noted.
He stressed improving and expanding such aviation centers in different areas inside the country.
As to the U.S. spy drone, Vahidi noted the Islamic Republic of Iran is the manufacturer of such drones and the country is building the drone for reconnaissance, targeting and strike purposes.
The drone, which had already been displayed on Iranian television, was captured by Iranian forces earlier this month.
Officials brought the drone down with a cyber attack after spotting it flying over Iranian air space.
Also Vahidi said last Monday the drone is the Islamic Republic of Iran's property and it would decide what to do with spy unmanned aircraft.
