US spy working for CIA arrested in Iran: Intelligence Ministry

Tehran, Dec 17, IRNA -- A US spy working for Central Intelligence Agency was identified and arrested in Iran, the Intelligence Ministry said on Saturday.
'Following the US administration's hostile and extensive intelligence operations against the Islamic Republic of Iran and the noble Iranian nation, the US had made heavy investment and complicated arrangement to help a CIA agent of Iranian origin infiltrate into Iranian intelligence system,' it said in a statement.
The statement said that CIA had tasked one of its intelligence analysts who has a record of working with intelligence unit of the US army at the US military bases in Afghanistan and Iraq for the purpose.
The Intelligence Ministry said that the spy had attempted to infiltrate into Iranian intelligence system to supply wrong data and spy on channels of Iranian Intelligence Ministry.
The statement said that the spy had undergone the CIA complicated intelligence training fpr sometime and entered the region for pre-designated activities.
Iranian Intelligence Ministry identified him immediately after his entry to Bagram base in Afghanistan.
The spy was under surveillance of Iranian Intelligence Ministry after his entry to Iran and was arrested when he was engaged in spying activities.
'Once again Iran proved its intelligence superiority over the ominous spying operations of the US intelligence agency.'
The Intelligence Ministry said that other dimensions of the US spying targets will be made public in the next few days.
