TEHRAN (ISNA) - Iran's Intelligence Minister Heidar Moslehi said launching of the U.S. virtual embassy seeks espionage purposes.
Moslehi noted, “Opening of the virtual embassy is after espionage aims and everyone particularly the youth should be vigilant in this regard.”
“Opening an embassy in one country should be accepted by the respective state and the other country should receive credentials for establishment of the embassy, but what they (the US officials) have brought forth is the opening of a virtual embassy which means lacking any external form. They are just doing all these activities under the illusion,” Moslehi added.
He noted, “I should say that situation of the U.S. intelligence ministry has been weakened and their activities are rooted in their weakness.”
As to capture of the US embassy by Iranian students over the beginning years of the Islamic Revolution, Moslehi noted, “The US embassy was a place for espionage in our country which was captured by the students. It was clear that it was only a spy nest and opening up the virtual embassy seeks the same path.”
