TEHRAN (ISNA)-Iranian Intelligence Minister Heidar Moslehi said Egyptian authorities have apologized for arrest of an Iranian diplomat.
"They (Egyptian authorities) were searching for one of their agents when they captured an Iranian diplomat by mistake. They released him two hours later," Moslehi told reporters on Sunday on the sidelines of cabinet meeting.
Also an Iranian Foreign Ministry official said on Sunday the country was pursuing the issue of arrest of an Iranian diplomat in Cairo through officials and diplomatic channels.
The Iranian diplomat is now serving in Iranian Interests Section in Cairo.
Al-Arabiya News Channel claimed that Egyptian security service has arrested an Iranian diplomat due to spying activities.
The channel said that the Iranian, Qasem Hosseini, is one of the Iranian Interests Section's staff who has allegedly transferred Egyptians developments and news abroad.
