Israel Aerospace Industries Presents Unique Quality Assurance and Control Software Platform for Heron TP UAV

Jun 14, 2010

At the fifth annual congress on quality assurance and control software, Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), presented an efficient, user-friendly platform that enables the writing and running of simultaneous software tests, both manual and automatic.

The platform, TestBuilder, is based on Keyword Driven Testing, and was developed for the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) Heron TP, which has recently been inducted into the Israel Air Force. TestBuilder has also been used in other revolutionary IAI projects that provide ground-breaking solutions to a number of challenges in the field today.

IAI has years of experience in the fields of process and information management, high quality product development, and application of advanced intelligence systems, all of which are utilized for its technology-based mega-projects, with a particular emphasis placed on quality management and high standards that IAI sets for itself.
IAI development teams built this platform to perform the most thorough tests of the software and the system, ensuring that they would meet software quality standards and critical scheduling deadlines using existing sources. The platform provides tests for a wide variety of system requirements, significantly improves the product quality, dramatically reduces time and money spent, and ensures that the system meets the demands of development standards.

The IAI-made Heron TP, a strategic high altitude long endurance UAV, was inducted into operational use in the Israel Air Force on February 21st, 2010. The UAV is powered by a turbo-prop engine (1200 horsepower), allowing for a cruising altitude of over 41,000 ft. It can carry up to 1,000KG of payloads, including electro-optic observation payloads, advanced radars, satellite communication, and more, depending on the mission specifications. The Heron TP has a wingspan of 26 meters and can remain in the air for over 24 hours.
