BAE Systems One of Six Major Contractors Chosen for Largest-ever Defense Intelligence Agency Contract
20 May 2010 | Ref. 099/2010
RESTON, Virginia -- BAE Systems was one of six major defense contractors chosen by the Defense Intelligence Agency to provide information technology services under a $6.6 billion contract, the largest ever awarded by the agency.
In addition to the six large firms, five smaller contractors are eligible to compete for business under the Solutions for the Information Technology Enterprise (SITE) contract.
SITE is a five-year, Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract, which allows selected companies to bid on work for the government, and is a consolidation of two previous IT contracts. Under one of them, the Department of Defense Intelligence Information Systems Information Engineering Support Contract, BAE Systems was the leading provider of IT services to the DIA. All told, the eleven companies will provide IT services to the DIA and the military services, and support the combatant commands' intelligence needs.
"We have an unparalleled workforce of cleared personnel in highly technical fields with an excellent understanding of the customers, their mission, and their environment," said Chris D'Ascenzo, vice president and general manager of defense intelligence solutions for BAE Systems. "The SITE contract will provide opportunities for BAE Systems to demonstrate its far-reaching global capabilities in systems development, integration and fielding, and enterprise services."
SITE includes IT planning, design, implementation, technical support services, program management, and intelligence analysis. It also involves procurement and support for network server and videoconferencing equipment.
