NATO expels two Russians for spying

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Berlin, Apr 30, IRNA - NATO has expelled two Russian diplomats from its headquarters in Brussels, accusing them of spying, Germany's dpa news agency reported here Thursday.

One of the expelled Russians is the son of Moscow's ambassador to the European Union, Vladimir Chizhov.

Both men worked for the Russian diplomatic mission at NATO.

The expulsion was reportedly in reaction to a spy affair in which an Estonian official was imprisoned for handing secrets to Moscow.

NATO ordered the diplomats out on Wednesday, coinciding with the day the alliance restarted official talks with Russia at ambassadorial level, eight months after contacts were suspended over Russia's five-day war with Georgia last August.
