Germany-Kosovo-Agents
Germany lambasted Kosovo Monday for the 'illegal' imprisonment of three of its secret service agents, saying their release over the weekend was overdue.
Deputy government spokesman Thomas Steg told journalists in Berlin that the accusations against the three BND foreign intelligence service operatives, aged 41 to 47, were 'baseless'.
He dismissed German media reports about imminent plans to cut aid to Kosovo in reaction to the detention of the agent trio.
Germany has a strong interest in promoting 'rule of law and economic development in Kosovo', Steg stressed.
The Germans were detained on November 19 as suspects in the November 14 blast of the European Union's main office in Kosovo.
No one was injured when an explosive device was thrown at the building.
