Israel Aerospace Industries' Elta Systems Group Awarded Contracts for SAR/GMTI UAV Payloads Worth $40 Million
Feb 7, 2007
Israel Aerospace Industries’ (IAI) Elta Systems Group received two contracts for Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) / Ground Moving Target Indication (GMTI) payloads from two undisclosed customers following successful demonstrations on various UAV platforms. The total value of the contracts is $40 million.
Elta’s SAR systems are operational in all weather conditions and provide high quality images, penetrating clouds, fog, smoke, smog, rain and man-made camouflage. The SAR radar can also provide Ground Moving Target Indication (GMTI) that enables the system to track location changes of targets. The UAV SAR payload transmits its images to a Ground Exploitation Station (GES) for further exploitation and Image Intelligence (IMINT) extraction and dissemination.
