Israel Aircraft Industries' Elta Systems Received a Contract for Advanced National Imagery Intelligence Center

Jun 12, 2006

For the performance of the initial stage of the program Elta received $22 million

Elta Systems, a Group and Subsidiary of Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI), was awarded a contract by the Israel Ministry of Defense (IMOD) to develop and provide a National Geo-Spatial Real-Time Image Intelligence Center (ING RiCENT).

The new system designed for IMOD will be based on field proven elements of Elta's EL/S-8994RT Real Time Image Intelligence Center (RiCENT) product line.

RiCENT type of systems are designed to produce 24 hours/365 days, all weather IMINT (Image Intelligence) by real time automatic processing and integration of all images delivered by a variety of strategic and tactical platforms and sensors: space, airborne, naval, UAVs and ground-based, multi IMINT sensors including E/O, IR, Video, SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) and GMTI (Ground Moving Target Indicator) Radar.

ING RiCENT is designed to be a modular ISTAR (Intelligence, Surveillance, Targeting and Reconnaissance) system that enables efficient utilization of the ever growing availability of wide coverage, high resolution Imagery Intelligence data.

RiCENT automation and real-time processing accelerates the intelligence cycle from imagery acquisition to IMINT (Image Intelligence) & GEOINT (Geo-Intelligence) dissemination, thus meeting the response time and accuracy requirements of today time- critical targets and advanced weapons systems.

ING RiCENT will have the capabilities of integrating any other geo-referenced intelligence information

The contract was awarded to Elta and its subcontractors Rafael and Ness Technologies following a demonstration of advanced exploitation and dissemination processes employing automatic and semi-automatic tools for quick detection, identification and acquisition of time-critical targets. For the performance of the initial stage of the program ELTA received a $22 million order.

Israel Aircraft Industries is a recognized leader in the aerospace and defense industry and Israel’s largest industrial exporter. IAI's Elta Systems Group is one of Israel's leading defense electronics companies and a leader in Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance (ISTAR), Early Warning and Control, Home-Land Security (HLS), Self-Protection and Self-Defense and Fire Control applications.

Elta's annual sales reach approximately $700 million with 3000 employees.
