Lockheed Martin to Compete for Intelligence Agency Tasks

Seabrook, MD, January 12th, 2004 -- Lockheed Martin (NYSE:LMT) has been awarded a blanket purchase agreement by the Virginia Contracting Activity on behalf of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) to provide IT engineering, Intelligence support, and technical services to DIA, the Department of Defense Intelligence Information Systems (DoDIIS) community, and Intelligence Community organizations.

The agreement gives Lockheed Martin and its teammates the opportunity to compete for future task orders with six other pre-qualified contractor teams under the DoDIIS Integration and Engineering Support Services Contracts (DIESCON3). As an indefinite delivery indefinite quantity vehicle, DIESCON3 was created to meet the mission needs of community chief information officers and program managers quickly through streamlined, competitively awarded task orders.

Although the contract does not specify dollar amounts, DIA has said it expects to award task orders worth about $100 million in 2004. The contract period began December 15 and is estimated to run concurrent with Lockheed Martin's GSA schedule.

Stephen Tate, director of intelligence programs for Lockheed Martin Information Technology, said, "We are ecstatic about being selected to play a part in the Defense Intelligence Agency's mission. The DIA is a critical member of the Intelligence Community and we are proud to be selected to provide the latest in technology services to its customers.

"The Lockheed Martin DIESCON 3 Team is structured for efficiency, possesses the talent base, and has an experienced leadership team to provide secure IT infrastructure services, secure enterprise management solutions, intelligence analytic support, and information assurance to the DoD and other government departments," Tate said.

The contract supports a variety of IT-related program requirements in support of counter terrorism; Homeland Defense; and intelligence collection, production, and dissemination. Work will be performed at both contractor and government customer sites around the world under four general service categories: Community infrastructure management, information systems, intelligence support and information systems, and general technical support services.
