No bugging device found in Pak embassy in London - daily
IRNA
Islamabad, Dec 3, IRNA - Pakistan`s special investigation team has found no bugging device in the country`s embassy in London, reported a Lahore-based newspaper on Wednesday. Daily Times newspaper said that the special security team returned home without finding any bugging device in Pakistani High Commission in London. The newspaper quoting an official said that the British intelligence operatives were either so sophisticated and nearly impossible to locate or the devices were pulled out and taken away so as to leave "no smoking guns". "The team even dug floors, bared a number of walls and checked every niche and corner, but found nothing," the newspaper quoted the official as saying. Pakistan has sought clarification from British government over reports of bugging of its embassy in 2001. However, Britain has so far been silent. Reports said, a few weeks back, that bugging devices were installed during renovation of the building by Britain`s secret agency MI5. Reacting to its silence, Islamabad has threatened to look to some other options and even said that this attitude by Britain could have impact on their relations. Pakistan asked British government to make its position clear on the issue. MHA/TSH/211 End
