BAE SYSTEMS Launches New Micro Infrared Camera
23 Jun 2003
BAE Systems has launched a new micro infrared camera for commercial and Commercial-off-the-Shelf (COTS) military applications.
The LTC550 MicroIR™, developed by BAE Systems IR Imaging Systems (IRIS), is an environmentally qualified, infrared camera designed for day and night surveillance and general imaging applications. Based on IRIS' 320 x 240 uncooled MicroIR™ technology, the LTC550 produces unmatched, high-resolution imagery for enhanced situational awareness, independent of darkness and a wide range of obscurants, i.e., fog and smoke, all without the need for artificial illumination.
Based on a modular design, the LTC550 has set a new standard for configuration flexibility and low cost. A family of lenses, ranging from 18 millimetres wide to 100/300 millimetres dual field of view, permits users to define the lens required to meet current mission requirements, while allowing for field replacement should requirements change. This unique capability, coupled with the unit's versatile mounting bracket and full-function system controller, has resulted in a system designed for rapid, mission-specific deployment.
"The LTC550 generates unparalleled, day and night, thermal imagery, making it the ideal choice for the most demanding surveillance and vision enhancement applications," said Dennis Long, IRIS program manager for Surveillance Products.
The LTC550 is listed with the Unites States Government General Services Administration.
The IRIS facility, located in Lexington, Massachusetts, is part of BAE Systems Information & Electronic Warfare Systems (IEWS), headquartered in Nashua, New Hampshire.
