General Dynamics Awarded $1.95 Billion Intelligence Systems Support Contract
NEEDHAM, Mass. – General Dynamics Network Systems has been awarded a four-year basic contract with two three-year incentive options and a potential value of $1.95 billion to support and maintain critical intelligence and command and control systems and networks for U.S. defense and intelligence operations worldwide. The contract was competitively awarded by the U.S. Air Force Warner Robins Air Logistics Center, under charter of the Defense Intelligence Agency. General Dynamics Network Systems is a business unit in the General Dynamics Information Systems and Technology group.
Through this indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract, called the Intelligence Information, Command and Control Equipment and Enhancements (ICE2) program, General Dynamics will provide computer repair, network management and administration, logistics support, video system support, software configuration and remote diagnostics services at customer sites worldwide.
"As technology changes and warfare becomes more network-centric, access to real-time intelligence information is even more crucial today. We understand the critical importance of the support we provide and are proud to be delivering that support into the future," said Michael Chandler, president of General Dynamics Network Systems.
The equipment at these sites is used to process information of varying security classifications, and many of the sites are sensitive facilities. The sites provide intelligence data to the National Command Authority and various civilian agencies and departments, including the Army, Navy, Air Force, Defense Intelligence Agency, Unified Commands, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard, National Imagery and Mapping Agency, and the Departments of State, Energy, and Treasury.
“For more than 40 years – from Vietnam through the Iraqi conflicts – our people have worked side by side with members of the intelligence community,” said Bob Dillon, a vice president and general manager responsible for the program at General Dynamics. “We are proud of this partnership and will continue to be there to provide support whenever and wherever we’re called.”
A typical site supported through the ICE2 program could be outfitted with commercial-off-the-shelf data-handling equipment, command and control (C2) equipment, local area networks, wide area networks, secure and non-secure video systems, communication devices and intelligence exploitation equipment.
ICE2 replaces the Intelligence Information Processing and Production (I2P2) contract; I2P2 and ICE2 are both managed under the Single Service Logistics Support Manager (SSLSM) program at Robins Air Force Base, Georgia. General Dynamics was the 26-year incumbent on the SSLSM contracts.
