INTRO: In a joint operation, U-S and South African
authorities are reported to have arrested one or more
suspects in connection with last year's U-S Embassy
bombings in Kenya and Tanzania, which killed more than
200 people. V-O-A Correspondent Alex Belida reports
from Johannesburg.
TEXT: U-S and South African authorities have had no
official comment on the reported arrests.
But the "Cape Argus" newspaper reports one Tanzanian
man is already in custody while a manhunt continues
for several accomplices believed hiding in the Cape
area.
The "Cape Times" newspaper reports several suspects
have been detained. It says the suspects are not
South Africans, but gives no further details.
U-S officials have already indicted more than one-
dozen people in connection with the embassy bombings,
some of whom are in custody and others who remain at-
large. They include Saudi-born fugitive Osama Bin
Laden, the suspected mastermind of the twin bomb
attacks.
A five-million-dollar reward has been posted for
information leading to the capture of those involving
in the bombings. (Signed)
