Dnieper Dam. Together with its electric plant, largest in Europe, was dynamited by retreating Reds. Along with this ruind keystone of the Five Year Plans, the invaders seized 70% of Russia's coal mines, 75% of her iron ore and 60% of her metalworks. But the Soviets saved whole factories - including 75% of Leningrad's industry - by moving them east of the Ural Mountains where a new industrial complex was building.
